In the Peak District we use a number of ideal locations and structures which will not upset the needs of rock climbers. We are also available to facilitate sponsored abseils within inner city environments for the purpose of charity fund raising. Abseiling can make a thrilling finale to your outdoor course or adventurous programme leaving strong and lasting memories of personal accomplishment.

Abseil with Acclimbatize

Abseiling, also known as rappelling, is a controlled method of descending a steep rock face or vertical surface using a rope. The process involves using a harness, a belay or descender device, gloves, and a sturdy rope anchored securely at the top of the descent. The person abseiling controls their speed by manipulating the rope through the descender device, allowing for a safe and gradual descent.

Proper technique and safety precautions are essential when abseiling. Helmets are typically worn to protect against falling debris or accidental impacts against the rock face. Abseiling can be both an exciting and practical skill, offering access to areas that might otherwise be unreachable and providing a thrilling way to experience natural landscapes.

Fantastic introduction to climbing Our family climbing introduction was a great experience for myself and my two teenage boys. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our instructor was an experienced climber who was willing and able to guide three newbies through a range of challenges on the nearby gritstone features. Overall I would thoroughly recommend the experience.

Abseiling at Millesdale This was a great experience for us. We were a bunch of elderly ppl, stiff as a board and couldn’t bend for anything, however the trainer showed great respect and tolerance and the event was brilliant. Thank you for the fantastic trainer whose name was Chris. Four of us did the abseil at millesdale and absolutely enjoyed the whole experience.

Outstanding! I booked a whole day climbing for my sons (13 and 10) and husband who all took up indoor bouldering a few months back. Within a few minutes of meeting our instructor Chaz, he had picked up on their experience levels and personalised the whole day accordingly with the perfect level of challenge for them all. They got to do various roped climbs of increasing difficulty on slabs and up cracks, scrambling, abseiling, through caves and ending with an almost sheer climb that Chaz knew would be too hard to complete but gave our eldest the perfect aspiration for his next steps in climbing. Throughout the day Chaz also gave them loads of praise and support as well as fantastic tips and techniques that they will be able to take forward. He also told us about some local history, the rock formations and great climbing stories, as well as recommendations of other bouldering sites and films. Couldn’t be more pleased with the entire day. Our 13 year old said it was the best day of his life and that he would give 10 stars out of 5.

Caving trip We booked a level 2 caving trip with this company and will definitely use them again. Everything was well organised, the guides were excellent and it was good value. We had a great morning caving and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Super family activity Fantastic archery session with Tracey and Drew. They organised 20 competitive adults and 2 children giving us enough of a safety briefing to keep us safe without it spoiling the fun. Super helpful tuition without mansplaining! They kept the activity from becoming samey by introducing different competitions and were absolutely brilliant with the 5 and 8 year old who were totally included in the whole activity. Would thoroughly recommend 👍👍👍🏹🎯

AWESOME! I took a group of 15 year old from a specialist school, all the children had additional needs. As part of a residential we had a day and a half with Accimbatize, Andy ,Tom, and Drew our instructors we awesome in engaging with our pupils giving the right amount of encouragement and support to some very anxious young people. They were patient and interested in all the individuals to ensure everyone achieved some personal challenge. The various activities gave something for everyone, Giants Cave a special place with brilliant explanation around it's formation and history. The back admin office were really helpful with our booking and completing consents. I would most highly recommend these guys for and adventure day out. Very safe friendly, for any group and especially including groups with special educational needs and disabilities. Thank you we will certainly book with you again.

Absolutely brilliant! I am so glad we choose acclimbatize. We had an instructor to ourselves and Tom was absolutely brilliant. He adapted the actictivities around our families needs and was so patient with us. We did climbing, abseiling anf gorge walking. I thoroughly recomend it.

Amazing adventures with great instructors I took a group of Scouts on a four day camp from Surrey. Sam helped me organise the whole trip, finding an itinerary that worked for our schedule and budget. We took part in three activities: caving, gulley scrambling, and climbing. All three were fantastic and the Scouts loved it. The level was pitched just right. It provided a challenge, but was never too difficult. Instructors all friendly and professional. Highly recommended and I’ll be using them again!

Our 5th time booking with Acclimbatize in 5 years! We went rock climbing and abseiling, plus some woolcraft, this weekend, with a group of about 24 children ranging from 4 to 16. Chris, Chas, Andy and Tracy were all absolutely great leaders, they created a relaxed but exciting atmosphere, challenging all the children to their limits and rewarding them with endless encouragement and words of advice. Everyone had a superb time.

As you descend rock faces or viaducts with expansive countryside views, the activity builds confidence, trust and resilience, pushing you gently out of your comfort zone while under expert supervision.

Frequently Asked Questions

All sessions will begin with a safety briefing and a check to ensure any long hair or garment cord is tucked away. Depending on the time available we may set up a ground based practice. We do this so participants can feel the mechanics of abseiling in a safe area. Additional benefits of this are ensuring body position is correct and the principles of starting and stopping are 'engrained' For younger ones we may use a gently angled slab for thrill seekers we may use free hanging abseils. A typical session lasts around 3 hours.

We prefer not to have any more than 20 at any location - at the same time. Multiple locations can be used for greater numbers. That said .. Abseiling combines really well with many other activities including climbing, caving, orienteering, problem solving tasks, zip lining and hiking. On sponsored abseils for example - we set time windows for groups of 10 or 20 participants - and at the next allocated time another 10 or 20 will participate.

No fitness level is required - we capabilities to work with disabled people - specialised harnesses and accessible locations.

We travel to most major cities for Sponsored Abseil events.

Yes - Abseiling combines well with many other activities.
