Burbage Adventure Day

Challenge, Discovery, and Adventure in the Heart of the Peaks

The Situation

There’s no better classroom than the Peak District — and few places capture its spirit like the Burbage Valley. Towering gritstone edges, wild moorland, and sweeping views set the stage for a day packed with challenge, teamwork, and exploration.

An Acclimbatize Mixed Adventure Day at Burbage brings together the best of outdoor learning — a perfect balance of adrenaline, skill-building, and fun in one of the most iconic landscapes in the UK.

The day begins at the Burbage car park. After a warm welcome and safety briefing, groups will split into smaller teams, ready to tackle a mix of activities that might include:

A Day in the Great Outdoors

  • Rock Climbing & Abseiling – testing nerves and building trust on Burbage’s famous gritstone edges. With expert guidance from our instructors, participants learn how to climb efficiently, communicate clearly, and support one another as they take on new heights.
  • Weaseling & Scrambling – navigating the twists, turns, and tight squeezes between rock formations. It’s a hands-on, laughter-filled challenge that encourages problem-solving and teamwork in equal measure.
  • Navigation & Mini-Expedition Challenges – learning the fundamentals of map reading, route-finding, and leadership while exploring the valley’s trails and open moorland.
  • Team Challenges & Problem Solving – creative outdoor tasks designed to encourage communication, cooperation, and initiative — all while having a great time.

Learning Through Adventure

Each session is designed to develop confidence and resilience, helping participants step beyond comfort zones in a supportive, fun environment.

An Acclimbatize day at Burbage is more than just a collection of activities — it’s a complete outdoor learning journey. Participants develop practical skills and self-awareness as they move through the day, with reflection and teamwork woven naturally into every challenge.

Whether it’s completing a climb, working together to find the way, or discovering the value of persistence, everyone leaves with a sense of achievement and connection to the outdoors.
