Nationally Accredited Leadership Courses

Rock Climbing, Hill Walking & Caving

Have YOU ever considered taking a qualification to lead others in the outdoors? The benefits of doing a National Governing Body Award (NGB) course with Acclimbatize are numerous:

  • As an operational outdoor activities provider we offer a practical ‘real world’ approach to training & assessment courses.
  • Presently most awards require approximately 20 days of supervisory experience in the ‘consolidation period’.
  • We can supply beneficial work based experience between training and assessment to fulfil this criteria if required.
  • We afford the opportunity to work alongside well established and highly qualified instructors.
  • We offer continued skills input throughout your logged group supervision days.
  • We will take your existing skills set and compliment it with new ones.

Rock Climbing Qualifications and Leadership Development

Acclimbatize are approved by MTE (Mountain Training England) to provide training and assessment courses for the Single Pitch Award (SPA). This qualification is for suitably experienced climbers who are keen to introduce groups of novices to the sport of Rock Climbing.

The award is based around ‘Trad’ climbing techniques and encompasses the use of indoor walls and outdoor bouldering. The award will satisfy the requirements of employing organisations and the Adventure Activity Licensing Service of a persons suitability to safely lead and supervise climbing groups.

Single Pitch Award Training Courses take place in Spring to Autumn each year – please contact us for dates – Cost £140
SPA Assessments take place in British summer time (BST) to make best use of longer daylight hours,   the cost is £145

Caving Qualifications and Leadership Development

Approved by the National Governing Body of Caving (British Caving Association) to provide training and assessment in all 6 modules of the local cave and mine leader award scheme. The two schemes are for suitably experienced cavers wishing to gain a recognised qualification to lead parties underground in caves which are appropriate to the award they hold.

The awards will satisfy the requirements of employing organisations and the Adventure Activities Licensing Scheme.

  • Level 1 Training courses are usually run Autumn and Winter
  • OR; at any time of year by for organisations requiring a ‘block booking’.
  • Level 1 Assessment modules – by private arrangement with individual candidates.
  • Level 2 Training Courses are programmed for Autumn and Winter each year or by by private arrangement for organisations requiring ‘block bookings’
  • Level 2 Assessment modules are by arrangement with individual candidates.

Hill walking and Mountaineering

Lowland Leader Award: The lowland leader is pitched perfectly for organisers of the Duke of Edinburgh Award and other leaders organising walking groups on marked rights of way all over he UK. Lowland Leader Award Training courses take place throughout the year and can be blocked booked by arrangement. Lowland Leader Award – Assessment  – Courses take place throughout the year £130 non residential

Mountain Leader Award – Training & Assessment: This 6 day course packs in 60 hours of training in all aspects of mountain leadership in summer conditions. 3 days Peak District – 3 days expedition in Snowdonia or the English Lakes. Please speak to our office to discuss availability on these courses.

Acclimbatize staff are available to support your UK and overseas mountain expeditions in any seasonal or climatic conditions. We can supply qualified professionals to lead parties within the UK, on high altitude treks and on mountainous expeditions worldwide.
