The Peak District boasts some of the finest and most suitable outcrops in the British Isles for introductory and progressive rock climbing sessions. Many of the crags we use are surrounded by heather moorland and are easily accessible from nearby roads. We are fortunate to have numerous indoor climbing walls located nearby for use during the colder months or for when the weather may become too inclement to climb outdoors.
The Acclimbatize equipment store is located less than 5 minutes walk from the nearest rock climbing and abseiling area.
Whatever your needs; enjoyment, personal challenge, discovery, technical skills training or help achieving a sporting goal. You can benefit from a day out with us. We will design a day to complement your existing skills and help you develop new ones. We operate climbing courses UK wide including the use of tidal sea cliffs.
The inclusion of rock climbing within a developmental programme creates an exciting situation in which individuals may challenge (stretch) themselves personally, overcome apprehensions and improve levels of self-confidence through their achievements.
Socially, participants are compelled to work closely with their peers, taking responsibility for the safety of, and willingly trusting others. Individuals usually encourage and celebrate the achievement of others, regardless of how this may compare to their own performance.
Climbing is a powerful and tangible activity for developing social cohesion and team effectiveness.
Key Learning: Trust between peers, Communication, Responsibility, Personal Challenge and Achievement, Team Work, Safety Instructions and Skill Aquisition.
In keeping with the Acclimbatize ethos, our introductory climbing sessions will require high levels of involvement from participants. We achieve this through strategic organisation of our groups. Groups can expect an action centred delivery style, enabling individuals to choose a level of challenge that meets their needs. Sessional content may vary depending on factors such as location, personal ability or weather.
Rock Scrambling has become an enormously popular activity with our clients. Used by us originally as a diagnostic shakedown tool, Scrambling has now evolved through popular demand into a stand alone activity. Essentially un-roped rock climbing, this activity is a flowing sequence of personal and team challenges which utilises suitable (low level) sections of crag and outcrops. We do this to develop teamwork, coach personal movement skills, improve and boost levels of personal confidence.
The type of terrain we cover includes; rock slabs, short climbs, gullies, short sections of cave, boulders and chimneys. We may use this type of session to introduce a rope on sections of steeper ground. The tactile nature of the activity assists participants to engage with the natural environment.
This session promotes a ‘Can do’ attitude in readiness for more technical activities.
Aside from a surge of adrenaline, abseiling can be a great test in personal confidence and trust of others.
In the Peak District we use a number of ideal locations and structures which will not upset the needs of rock climbers.
We are also available to facilitate sponsored abseils within inner city environments for the purpose of charity fund raising.
Abseiling can make a thrilling finale to your outdoor course or adventure programme leaving strong and lasting memories.
