Mountain Biking

The Peak District affords a wide diversity of biking opportnities.  In the White Peak area, riding can take place along specially prepared cycle trails or along abandoned railway lines enjoying the limestone scenery and open meadows of the Derbyshire Dales.  Further north in the rugged moorland areas of the Dark Peak, guided rides travel through areas of remote and exposed countryside.  These rides may be both technically and physically challenging.

Acclimbatize own their own fleet of bikes so we are not restricted to set location. We will deliver the bikes to a destination of your choice (within reason) and embark on a journey from there.

Group Leadership
Introductory mountain bike rides will usually take place on easier prepared trails, we do this to achieve travel over greater distances but also for safety management reasons.  Sections of more technical trial will be closely controlled.  During a ride leaders may introduce and demonstrate a range of useful cycling skills or use structred play and games to promote better handling skills.  Our longer rides demand a reasonable standard of personal fitness.  Participants will need a sense of commitment to complete some rides, given the remote situations that some journeys enjoy.

Personal and Group Development
Leading navigational legs, meeting timed targets (checkpoints) and keeping together as a group are just some of the key team working tasks we use to glue this activity together.  Mountain biking is conductive to extending the limits of a person's physical self-belief.  Young people frequently succeed over distances they may have previously thought unachievable.
